Google Pushes Into India With Data-Saving Apps, More Wi-Fi
Google is making a big push into India with several new products intended to get people online without draining their data and bank accounts. During the 2nd Google for Bharat issue, the visitor unveiled the data-saving YouTube Become app and lighter builds of its flagship services.
It also tipped more than options for activating public Wi-Fi and Hindi for Google Assistant.
Google also promised data optimisation in the updated Chrome for Android, a feature that will brandish only the essentials when 2G-like networks are detected. A new download characteristic also lets users save Spider web pages, videos, music, and pictures to their smartphone for offline use. Access information technology in Chrome's new Downloads tab.
Similarly, Google Play added two experimental features: pre-loading the most popular parts of the store when on a wireless connection and the option to 'Await for Wi-Fi' before installing a new app. Google News and Weather's new 'Lite way' will also keep the headlines and trim the rest, ensuring the app loads more quickly while providing only the bare essentials. Of course, slower networks will automatically trigger Lite mode.
"Added up, that's a lot of information saved, speeds accelerated, and new connections made," Sengupta shared.
Google is besides broadening its gratuitous public Wi-Fi program. Last year, it announced plans to provide loftier-speed public Wi-Fi in 400 train stations across Republic of india. That's now alive in more than 50 rails stations in Bharat, but to help speed upwards the roll-out, partners tin can at present access Google Station, a comprehensive software and guidance service that focus on how to roll out wireless hotspots in public places.
